This wonderful 80% Shetland/ 20% Cheviot wool yarn has been developed by Eva of The Scottish Wool Company (and director of The Scottish Yarn Festival).

The wool is slow grown in Scotland and then mill spun in Yorkshire, UK. It is a beautiful soft and bouncy yarn that is a pleasure to work with.

Peedie Dragon is a real wool enthusiast who embraces the local resources of the Orkney Isles and encourages people to explore more sustainable fibres and to help make wool more profitable for hard working farmers.

I have collaborated with them by using their range of Orkney wool and hand dyed British wools for my ‘Peedie Naturals’ range of baby booties. Peedie Dragon also works with British Alpaca, specialist Orkney wools, British luxury wool and some amazing wool bases from sheep and other fibre animals of the world. https://www.peediedragon.co.uk/

Colonsay Wool Growers fleeces and dye plants grow side by side on the windswept hills of Balnahard Farm. Colonsay Wool Growers is a yarn brand with real provenance at its heart. Their wool only comes from the sheep born & shorn at Balnahard Farm, and they use plant matter that grows naturally and abundantly on Colonsay for dyeing, producing a beautifully defined palette of colours, reflective of the Hebridean landscape.

I collaborate with Colonsay Wool Growers by using their wonderful undyed and naturally dyed wool for my ‘Peedie Naturals’ baby booties. Some of my booties then return to Colonsay for sale in the wonderful Seapink Gallery shop on the island.https://www.balnahard.com/colonsay-wool-growers

Rosie Dobson

Rosie is a wildlife artist and printmaker based in the hamlet of Bladnoch, just a mile outside Scotland’s National Booktown, Wigtown.

Her work reflects her lifelong love of birds, and nature, and is heavily influenced by my interest in traditional woodcuts, and old book illustrations.

I have collaboratively worked with Rosie to create naturally dyed ‘Scottish Wild Bird’ yarn packs that include one of her beautiful wildlife art cards in a complementary colourway.
